City Breaks in the UK That Offer Both Culture and Comfort

City breaks in the UK provide the perfect balance of cultural discovery and relaxation, making them ideal for travellers seeking short yet fulfilling getaways. From historic landmarks and world-class museums to vibrant dining scenes and cosy accommodations, these destinations combine rich heritage with modern comforts.

Whether you’re exploring centuries-old streets, enjoying live performances, or indulging in a luxurious spa retreat, UK cities offer something for every taste. With easy accessibility and diverse experiences packed into compact settings, city breaks promise memorable escapes that don’t require long journeys.

In this article, we will highlight UK destinations where culture and comfort meet seamlessly.

Cautionary Advice for City Travellers

Before we start discussing the places, let’s dive into some cautionary advice. UK cities are generally safe and well-connected through trains, buses, and rideshare services. However, travellers should remain alert to potential risks when using transportation. High-profile cases like the Uber sexual assault lawsuit have raised concerns about rider safety.

TruLaw states that in 2020, there were 998 reported incidents of misconduct linked to Uber. Of these, 141 were classified as the most severe cases. These figures highlight a serious issue that travellers should keep in mind.

To stay safe, always use verified apps, plan routes in advance, and share your trip details with trusted contacts. Simple precautions such as checking driver information, avoiding unlicensed vehicles, and staying alert during rides can help ensure peace of mind. With these steps, travellers can enjoy city breaks in the UK while prioritising their safety.

Holiday Season Travel Pitfalls You Should Avoid When Planning a Trip

Holiday Season Travel Pitfalls You Should Avoid When Planning a Trip

Holiday travel can be such a thrill, but let’s be honest: dealing with the hustle and bustle often means things don’t go quite as planned. According to the BBC, travel companies are expecting a 24% increase in the number of trips people plan in 2025 compared to 2024. Around the world, long leisure trips are emerging as the top choice for travelers.

In the US, about a quarter of those surveyed mentioned they plan to embark on a long international or cross-continental vacation this year. With packed airports, crowded attractions, and soaring prices, holiday trips come with their own set of challenges.

Getting ready for a holiday getaway can really set the stage for a relaxing experience. Making early reservations for hotels and attractions, researching your destination, and having alternative transport plans can really make a difference.

This article discusses the strategies for travelers to avoid common pitfalls and enjoy their holiday adventure with confidence and ease.

Not Budgeting for the Trip

A frequent mistake travelers make during the holidays is not having a budget. Conde Nast Traveler states that travel can be an enriching experience, but it often comes with a hefty price tag. With soaring flight prices, expensive accommodations, and pricey dining options, sticking to a budget can feel like a daunting task.

Suddenly, what should be an exciting trip starts to feel overwhelming. After all, travel is all about creating memories, so it’s essential to plan your expenses wisely to get the most out of your adventure. Prices tend to spike during the holiday season, and without a budget, you might find yourself losing track of your expenses.

Looking for good deals and being open to adjusting your travel dates can also help you make the most of your budget. With a solid budget in place, travelers can relax and enjoy their holidays, free from financial stress.

Choosing the Wrong Destination

Many travelers tend to get caught up in the hype of trendy destinations, often overlooking whether those places truly fit their vacation needs. It can lead to a letdown, as busy tourist spots, mismatched expectations, and high costs can take away from the enjoyment of the trip.

If you plan your trip without looking into the weather or cultural customs, you might just miss out on some of the best experiences the area has to offer. The real issue lies in skipping the essential groundwork and neglecting to check important details about your destination.

It is crucial to look beyond the surface, read recent traveler reviews, and consider factors like local customs, seasonal activities, and accommodation feedback. Planning thoughtfully ensures that your holiday travels are meaningful and enjoyable. It helps create unforgettable memories for all the right reasons, rather than piling on unnecessary stress.

Overlooking Road Safety

When it comes to holiday travel, overlooking road safety is a mistake that many people make, and it can be dangerous. The thrill of the season often makes travelers rush, leading them to skip essential vehicle checks or drive while fatigued. Many accidents occur because travelers underestimate the difficulties posed by winter roads, heavy traffic, or forget to schedule breaks.

Arkansas, being a tourist destination, attracts millions of visitors every year. According to 4029News, accidents and snow caused traffic delays on Interstate 49 in Northwest Arkansas in early 2025. The snow made visibility challenging for drivers. Multiple crashes were reported along I-49 in Benton and Washington Counties. Fayetteville also witnessed accidents.

In such a situation, if you find yourself in an accident, having a trustworthy Fayetteville personal injury lawyer can make all the difference in safeguarding your rights. It ensures you receive the support you need.

Holiday Season Travel Pitfalls You Should Avoid When Planning a Trip
Eurocamp Holidays

According to the Keith Law Group, in Arkansas, the personal injury process follows a set of steps. Moreover, you have three years from the date of your injury to file a personal injury lawsuit.

Planning your routes with plenty of time for breaks and steering clear of night driving whenever possible can really boost safety. Taking simple precautions, you can make sure that everyone on the road has a safe and enjoyable holiday season.

Overpacking without Second Thoughts

A common blunder during holiday travel is overpacking. It’s easy to get carried away and want to bring everything along. But this often results in heavy, unwieldy luggage that’s tough to handle.

Good Housekeeping notes that trying to squeeze all your cutest outfits into your suitcase is no less than a challenge. The stress of deciding what to pack and figuring out how to fit it all in can really dampen your excitement before the trip. Some clever packing tips help keep your favorite travel dress wrinkle-free and give extra room for the souvenirs.

The less bulk you have, the more freedom you’ll enjoy to move around and the flexibility to bring back some souvenirs. Steering clear of this common packing mistake can make your travels much more comfortable, especially during the hectic holiday season when convenience is key.

Traveling During Rush Days

One of the biggest blunders you can make during the holiday season is traveling right in the thick of the rush. It is about the hectic days just before the holiday, when airports, roads, and train stations are overflowing with people all trying to get to their destinations.

This situation results in long waits, crowded terminals, and stress. Flights are often pricier, and even minor delays or cancellations can create a domino effect that ruins your entire trip. The intense scramble for seats and accommodations during this time only makes things more frustrating.

The key issue is not taking the time to plan your travel dates wisely to overcome the holiday rush. If you can travel a few days earlier or later, you can really make a difference. This simple shift can help you dodge the crowds and save some cash. Being flexible with your plans can lead to less stress, more savings, and a much more pleasant holiday travel experience.

FAQs

Are road trips safe during the holiday season?

When it comes to holiday road trips, the stakes are a bit higher. With more cars on the road, unpredictable weather, and various distractions, the risks increase. Accidents and impaired driving tend to rise during this time. To ensure your holiday road trips are both safe and enjoyable, it’s crucial to stay alert, drive carefully, and plan your journey.

A trip that carries unforgettable memories and peace of mind for you and your loved ones.

Explore Europe Without Breaking the Bank

By Lolo Stubbs

Visiting dream destinations doesn’t have to break the bank. As a family of six, holidays seemed increasingly costly and out of reach—until we found Eurocamp.

Introduction

Eurocamp is a family-friendly haven that offers a range of accommodation options, including pitches for tents and campervans, mobile homes, and lodges. Each time we visited, we chose one of the three-bedroom lodges, which has a fantastic outside decking space with large seating areas. Inside there’s air con and all the mod cons each family needs (apart from a TV, which didn’t bother us adults—but if your children like to wind down with some TV in the evenings, download some programmes onto your iPad or laptop).

What You’ll Typically Find on Site

  • Swimming pools and splash pools for kids
  • Restaurants and bars
  • Supermarkets and convenience stores
  • Playgrounds and entertainment areas for kids
  • Wi‑Fi and laundry facilities

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed each site we’ve visited. We’ve been to Italy, France and Spain, and we can’t wait to explore more of Europe in the same way!

Bella Italia, Lake Garda, Italy

Lake Garda, Italy’s largest lake, is a breathtaking destination that offers stunning scenery, charming towns, and endless opportunities for outdoor activities. For families looking to explore this beautiful region without breaking the bank, the Bella Italia campsite is an excellent choice. We took our broods to Eurocamp’s Bella Italia for our Dad’s 70th birthday to tick discovering the wonders of Lake Garda off the bucket list, and we certainly did just that!

Located in the picturesque town of Peschiera del Garda, Bella Italia campsite made a brilliant base. It was great to have so much to do on the campsite to keep the children occupied, but equally, it was a fantastic launchpad to explore the breathtaking Lake Garda.

Some of our favourite destinations included:

  • Sirmione: This charming town is famous for its Roman ruins, thermal baths, and picturesque harbour. Take a stroll along the lakefront, visit the Sirmione Castle, and enjoy a delicious gelato. We made our trip here extra special by hiring a motorboat for the 15 of us. The kids loved that the captain let them choose their own music, and I’m not sure Sirmione has ever had a group of Mancunians singing an Oasis song so loudly as we came back to shore—we certainly made an impression.
  • Bardolino: The ease of getting from one side of the lake to the other is one of the beautiful things about Lake Garda. One of the children’s favourite parts of our day out at Bardolino was the ferry ride over there. The views were stunning, and we enjoyed some fabulous food and wine when we arrived.
  • Riva del Garda: This historic town is known for its charming old town, picturesque lakefront, and stunning mountain views. Take a boat ride, visit the Riva del Garda Castle, and enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the local restaurants.

There were many places we didn’t get to visit. Gardaland, for one, is supposedly a must-visit theme park for families, with thrilling rides, shows, and attractions.

Travelling with Other Families

One of the highlights of our trip was travelling with other families. Sharing the experience with friends and like‑minded families made the trip even more enjoyable. We shared meals, explored the lake together, and enjoyed each other’s company. The kids had a blast playing together, and the adults appreciated the social aspect of travelling in a group.

Why Lake Garda Works on a Budget

Lake Garda is a stunning destination that offers something for everyone. With its picturesque towns, beautiful scenery, and endless opportunities for outdoor activities, it’s a perfect spot for families. By staying at the Bella Italia campsite and travelling with other families, we were able to experience the best of Lake Garda on a budget. Whether you’re looking for relaxation, adventure, or cultural experiences, Lake Garda is a must‑visit destination that will leave you with unforgettable memories.

Continuing our Eurocamp journey: France and Spain

Domaine De La Yole, Béziers, France

We had the pleasure of visiting Domaine De La Yole, a Eurocamp park in the beautiful south of France, with our brood. The sun‑kissed region provided the perfect backdrop for a fantastic family holiday.

Domaine De La Yole truly lives up to its reputation as a family‑friendly haven. The park’s layout is designed with families in mind, with the bar and restaurant situated right in front of the playground area. This allowed us to relax and chat with a cold beverage while keeping a watchful eye on the kids as they played to their hearts’ content.

The park boasts two fantastic pool areas that provided hours of fun for our children:

  • One pool area featured an array of slides, including thrilling water slides and more gentle options for younger kids.
  • The other pool area was a tropical lagoon, complete with sand and a relaxing atmosphere.

Our kids loved splashing around in both pools, and we loved watching them have so much fun.

Playa Joyel, Noja, Spain

As two families—one with two kids and the other with four—we were excited to explore Playa Joyel in Noja, Spain. Our stay at the campsite and lodges was a resounding success, with clean facilities and all the amenities we needed.

The surrounding green hills provided a stunning backdrop to our stay, while the beautiful golden sands beach was a delight for both kids and adults. The beach was perfect for building sandcastles, swimming, and soaking up the sun.

Just a short walk from the campsite, we discovered La Cabaña in Playa de Ris, a picturesque bar that quickly became our go‑to spot. The kids loved playing in the sand while the adults relaxed with a drink, enjoying the breathtaking views. The children even got to dance to their favourite TikTok tunes, making it a highlight of our trip.

We visited Playa Joyel out of season, which meant that not all amenities were open. However, this didn’t detract from our overall experience. The siesta times did pose a slight challenge, as they didn’t quite align with the kids’ tea time schedule. Nevertheless, we adapted and made the most of our time.

Playa Joyel was an excellent choice for our family vacation. The campsite, lodges, and beach provided a relaxing atmosphere, while La Cabaña bar became our favourite spot. We would definitely recommend Playa Joyel to families looking for a scenic and enjoyable getaway.

Wrap‑Up

For families who want to explore Europe without breaking the bank, Eurocamp offers exactly what’s needed: a mix of budget‑friendly accommodation, kid‑pleasing amenities, and brilliant locations. From Italy’s lakeside towns to France’s sunlit pool days and Spain’s golden beaches, we made memories that will last—without the eye‑watering price tag.

Discovering the Charm with My Hotel Break

Travellers who want to find unforgettable destinations are inclined to search on such platforms as My Hotel Break, where the listings not only focus on comfort but also the views. Both properties offer their kind of natural theatre, encapsulating moments that are memorable well beyond any stay.

Coastal Retreats with Endless Horizons

Seaside holidays are things of dreams, especially around the Cornish coast or on the wild North East beaches. Most hotels in this area have panoramic windows that are meant to bring the outside in. You could sit and watch the tide sweep across the golden sand or the cliffs that reflect the evening light, which makes the ordinary downtime a visual spectacle.

Clifftop Vantage Points

Hotels built high above the water provide expansive views unmatched by inland stays. Dining with a horizon that stretches far beyond the shoreline offers a sense of freedom that city life rarely provides.

Harbourside Ambience

Others lie beside working harbours, where colourful fishing boats and quiet waters form the backdrop. These locations combine tranquillity with cultural interest, blending scenery and community charm.

Countryside Escapes Among Rolling Hills

Rural landscapes deliver a different kind of grandeur. Hotels hidden within national parks or nestled among farmlands promise a slower pace where silence and scenery intertwine.

Highland Drama

Few places rival the Highlands for rugged beauty. Snow-dusted peaks, lochs reflecting twilight skies, and winding glens surround hotels that feel both secluded and inviting.

Gentle Greenery

By contrast, areas such as the Lake District or the Yorkshire Dales showcase softer contours. Guests wake to meadows stretching toward distant ridges, where walking paths start just beyond the door.

Urban Stays with a Scenic Edge

Even in cities, some hotels manage to incorporate striking vistas. Rooftop terraces and riverfront suites capture skylines that change dramatically from sunrise to nightfall. London’s Thames-side properties or Edinburgh’s hilltop hotels present views that blend architecture with natural topography, offering an aesthetic balance of culture and landscape.

Lakeside Calm and Reflective Beauty

Hotels situated by water create a sense of serenity. Morning mist rising over Windermere, or reflections dancing across Llangorse Lake in Wales, create settings where stillness dominates. Such environments encourage guests to slow down, absorb the surroundings, and appreciate nature’s subtler details.

Practical Considerations for Scenic Stays

Although scenery is the main element, considerate design is a part of the experience. Floor-to-ceiling glass, balconies oriented towards sunsets and landscaped gardens are some of the ways of displaying the environment in full. The guests are the beneficiaries because hotels deliberately present nature, as opposed to it being an afterthought.

Why Views Matter

Memories are more deeply rooted when they are associated with impressive landscapes. A place to stay that has a view of the mountains or a sea shore does not only provide a location of sleep, but it enhances the experience of the journey itself. Beautiful surroundings also have an effect on mood, bringing peace, inspiration and a feeling of escape from routine life.

Travel Shaped by Landscape

The UK is full of hotels that enhance the trips with their outstanding locations. Rugged coastlines to still lakesides and bustling urban high rises, each can provide a different setting for memorable events. Choosing a place to stay with the focus on scenery not only serves as a place of rest but also adds an experience of the beauty of the place.

Car Tyres and Road Trips – How Busy Parents Can Prep for a Stress-Free Family Getaway

Car Tyres and Road Trips – How Busy Parents Can Prep for a Stress-Free Family Getaway

Car Tyres and Road Trips: How Busy Parents Can Prep for a Stress-Free Family Getaway

Planning the perfect family getaway can sometimes feel like navigating a traffic jam of stress, but with a bit of preparation and care, it can change into a journey of happiness. One of the most critical but often forgotten parts of car road trip preparations is to make sure the tyres are in good condition. Car tyres play a vital role in any journey. They can make a trip safe and efficient. Let’s explore practical tips that busy parents can use to get ready for a trouble-free trip, and why car tyres should top your road trip checklist.

Part time working mummy post

To begin with, a complete visual check of all your car’s tyres is very important. Look for any uneven wear, bumps, cuts, or bulges. The Uneven tread wear might be a sign of problems with the car’s wheel alignment or suspension, while any sidewall damage should not be disregarded. The depth of the tread is also very important to be checked thoroughly. Most authorities recommend it to be at least 3mm for a motorway journey. A typical 20p test can be helpful if done in the UK: if the outer band is fully covered, the tread is legally acceptable, but if it is less than that, you should replace your car tyres before the journey.

When preparing the car boot, don’t forget to free up space for the car tyres changing tools: a jack, wheel brace, and, if possible, a torque wrench. Also, pack gloves, a reflective jacket, and wheel chocks since they are especially necessary if changing a tyre on an inclined surface. Also, keep a list of breakdown services to hand that operate in the area you are following, preferably those operating near your route, to ensure coverage where you’ll be travelling. A good set of car tyres that are well maintained can lower the chance of being involved in an unexpected roadside situation; however, it is still advisable to have the right gear on hand just in case. While travelling, if you want new car tyres, Dexel Tyre & Auto Care offers the best selection at great prices, regardless of whether you are looking for all-season, performance, or budget-friendly options. The staff will be happy to direct you to those car tyre models that are most appropriate for your car, the distance of your journey, and the weight you plan to carry, thus ensuring your family road trip is off to a good start. Once the car tyres are fitted, be sure to set the right pressure before departure. Tyre pressure should preferably be measured when the tyres are cold, and then, depending on the car load, it should be changed: a fully loaded vehicle often requires higher PSI than normal. If the car tyres are underinflated, they may get hot and thus become less fuel-efficient and increase the risk of a tyre blowout, while overinflation affects the traction and the ride comfort. Several family cars feature the recommended PSI values either on the driver’s door frame or in the owner’s manual-use those numbers as your guide.

Car tyres on a family trip
jmw

Along the journey, it is advisable to check the car tyres every couple of hours. Check for any foreign objects that might have got stuck in the tread, also check pressure levels and ensure no unusual wear is forming. Additionally, any punctures caused by nails, even if they are tiny ones, should be fixed at once, as they will not turn into a slow or sudden air leak. Using car tyres with compromised safety issues is not only dangerous but also can lead to a major problem for your travel schedule, if, however, you continue using them without addressing the issue.

Seasonal factors have an influence as well. The fact that your trip falls into autumn or springtime might mean that the route you have chosen would have spots that are wet or even icy. Selecting all-season car tyres or the ones that are specifically for wet weather will give you an extra layer of safety if the conditions turn really bad. On the other hand, in the hot summer weather, the performance car tyres that get rid of the heat effectively will maintain grip and comfort on fast roads and motorways at high speeds, maintaining safety and comfort.

In conclusion, proper car tyre care is a crucial part of any successful family road trip. Check for any damage and tread depth, ensure appropriate inflation by considering the load, and always have spare car tyres and tools available. Periodic checks during the journey will guarantee peace of mind, and spending money on good car tyres is like getting safety, comfort, and fuel economy all at the same time. By focusing on these basics, busy parents can easily turn travel day stress into smiles, beautiful nature, and those unforgettable family moments on the open road.

The Best Diamond Shops in America for Customer Service

The Best Diamond Shops in America for Customer Service

The Best Diamond Shops in America for Customer Service

Buying a diamond ring is not an ordinary purchase. It’s one of the biggest and most meaningful purchases you get to make. So, naturally, you want every detail to be right. That starts with finding a jeweler you can trust.

A good jeweler puts your needs first to make the entire experience clear and stress-free. But with so many diamond shops out there, knowing where to begin can feel overwhelming. Many retailers promise unbeatable prices but fall short when it comes to real customer care.

To help you start your search with confidence, we’ve rounded up five trusted diamond jewelers in the US known for going the extra mile for their customers.

Rare Carat – The Best Diamond Marketplace for Customer Satisfaction

Founded in 2016 in New York City, Rare Carat is a unique diamond marketplace. The brand has already become one of America’s most trusted diamond retailers. This is because they help customers compare thousands of natural and lab-grown diamonds from vetted sellers.

From the start, Rare Carat backs every online purchase with a 30-day money-back guarantee, and free insured shipping and returns. Rare Carat understands that choosing the right ring size without being able to physically try rings on can be tricky. So, they provide a free, complimentary resizing within the first year.

Rare Carat also brings a team of gemologists on board because customers need unbiased and honest diamond reviews. Ultimately, this guarantees that customers can choose the right diamond for their needs and budget. The good news is that the level of guidance carries on even after purchase, as the brand constantly receives high ratings for customer support and value for money.

They even ship orders quickly in secure and elegant packaging, ensuring customers get the best experience until the end. It’s easy to see why this brand stands out for customer satisfaction.

Pros Cons
Generous 30-day money-back guarantee No physical stores for in-person browsing
Free insured shipping and returns & free resizing for a year Doesn’t remodel/reset existing jewelry, best for buying new stones and settings
Free diamond reviews and expert advice
Huge marketplace with top-rated diamonds from trusted sellers
User-friendly platforms for each search and comparison

James Allen – Best for 360° Diamond Viewing

James Allen was founded in 2006 in Maryland and is now based in New York. James Allen’s standout purchase feature is the 360° HD diamond display. This lets you spin and zoom in on each stone, ideal for those who want an in-depth view.

Their range includes both natural and lab-grown diamonds, which can be used for custom engagement rings, wedding bands, and fine jewelry. Additionally, there are also flexible design tools to help you create your dream ring from scratch.

When it comes to customer satisfaction, James Allen’s perks include free shipping, a lifetime warranty, and complimentary resizing for the first year. The website is easy to navigate for shoppers. You can also reach out to their support team easily for any questions. Response times can be a little slow during busy periods, which can be frustrating.

While the brand has a huge selection of diamonds and settings, this feels overwhelming for lesser experienced shoppers. Some customers wish there were some guidance throughout the process.

Pros Cons
360° HD diamond viewing technology No expert guidance available
Free resizing for a year Support response delays at peak times
Lifetime warranty

Blue Nile – Best for Wide Selection and Fair Prices

Many shoppers know the 1999-founded Blue Nile for its huge inventory of loose diamonds, engagement rings, wedding bands, and fine jewelry.

Today, Blue Nile remains a top choice for buyers who want plenty of options and fair, competitive prices. The site is easy to browse, and you can filter thousands of certified diamonds to find exactly what you’re looking for. Blue Nile also has showrooms in a few major US cities for those who prefer to see diamonds in person.

When it comes to customer satisfaction, Blue Nile offers free shipping, a 30-day return policy, and a lifetime warranty on all bought jewelry.

However, Blue Nile doesn’t provide reviews for every inventory diamond, which means customers are left guessing. There’s generally less guidance available for those buying a diamond ring online for the first time.

Pros Cons
Huge selection of certified diamonds and fine jewelry Limited in-person support outside showroom locations
Competitive pricing No personalized diamond review
30-day returns and free shipping

Brilliant Earth – Best for Ethical Choices

Brilliant Earth launched in 2005 in San Francisco with the mission to make diamond shopping more ethical and sustainable. It’s the go-to brand for customers who care about where their diamonds come from.

There is a wide selection of natural and lab-grown diamonds, as well as vintage pieces and custom engagement rings. Brilliant Earth also uses recycled precious metals and conflict-free stones.

Brilliant Earth’s customers are satisfied with the sustainability choice. They also receive free shipping, free returns for 30 days. Jewelry comes with lifetime warranty. If customers need advice, the brand directs them to one of their physical showrooms for in-person viewings.

However, sustainability comes at a higher cost than other diamond jewelers, which can be an issue. Additionally, custom pieces can also take longer to produce, which is problematic when you are working against a tight deadline, such as with engagement rings.

Pros Cons
Quality in-person showroom experience Higher price tag than online-only retailers
Focus on ethical sourcing and sustainability Longer lead times for custom orders
30-day returns and free shipping

Helzberg Diamonds – Best for Trusted Heritage

Helzberg Diamonds has been helping customers find the right diamond for over a century. The jewelry chain counts hundreds of retail stores across the country.

Helzberg’s range includes natural and lab-grown diamonds, engagement rings, wedding bands, and fine jewelry. The brand is known for helpful in-store consultants who guide customers through the buying process. It is the name that comes to mind for all in-person purchases with guidance.

Helzberg customers enjoy free shipping and easy returns within 30 days. They can add lifetime care plans to their purchase.

However, the pricing isn’t always as competitive as online marketplaces. Besides, the online selection can also feel more limited than other brands. Helzberg’s online presence seems to favor a browsing approach rather than helpful transaction guidance.

Pros Cons
Strong in-store support Less price transparency than online marketplaces
Established brand Smaller online selection
Fast shipping, easy return, and lifetime care plans Less online guidance

Choosing a diamond ring is a big moment, and this is why you want one of these trusted jewelers on your side. All these brands combine beautiful stones with clear policies and support, ensuring you never feel alone throughout the process. Have a look and compare the different services to find the one that meets your needs.

Famous landmarks around Europe you can see when booking a cruise

By Guest Contributor

If you have been longing for the open seas, but have limited time to plan for your exclusive experience, why not book a spontaneous getaway to treat yourself and your family to an unforgettable cruise vacation.

Whether its the Eiffel Tower in Paris or the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Rome, you can hardly turn a corner in Europe without stumbling upon an incredible landmark.

So go ahead and browse the cheapest option with last-minute cruise deals which will whisk you away on an unforgettable adventure to some of the most sought-after destinations of Europe.

<br />
La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

1:

La Sagrada Familia, Barcelona

An unparalleled achievement of the famous Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi, La Sagrada Familia is the most grandest of all landmarks in Europe and probably on the planet as well.

The stunning exterior is a vivid display of spires, towers, sculptures and carvings that extend skywards to heights of 566 feet while the interior is reminiscent of a forest canopy. Scheduled to be completed in 2026, it will mark the 100 th death anniversary of Gaudi, buried in the script underneath.

Rome-colosseum

2:

Colosseum, Rome

Constructed more than two thousand years ago, the enormity of the Colosseum in Rome can be envisaged by its look which even resembles what it was when originally built, just east of the Palatine Hill.

This incredible engineering feat can be felt when walking the perimeter of this massive stone and concrete structure and its elliptical bowl shape. Note the retractable awning above which acted as as a shield from the elements for the 50,000 spectators who watched the brutal combat scenes.

Trip-to-paris

3:

Eiffel Tower, Paris

The 1063 feet high Eiffel Tower stands like a beacon over the City of Lights and has become a landmark synonymous not only with Paris, but the whole of France as well. Initially a concept of Gustave Eiffel, a French engineer, for the 1889 World Fair, it only escaped demolition as it was considered to be a potential telecommunication tower.

No visit to Paris can be deemed complete without a selfie against the backdrop of this colossal iron frame towering in the distance. Moreover, the views of the city from the top, accessed by a combination of lifts and stairs, are unsurpassable,

Pisa, Italy 2025

4:

The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy

Built way back in 1173, this unique bell tower built for the Pisa Cathedral was lopsided right from the start due to the uneven settling of the foundation below it. Despite efforts from architects to correct the tilt, this 185 tower still leans today to about 4 degrees off the vertical.

Alas, this engineering destabilization, has made the tower one of the most significant landmarks in Italy and one of the most famous monument in Europe. Thankfully, the white marble arcades have ensured that it is very much stable still and safe to climb its 251 steps as well.

Visitors are rewarded with excellent views of the entire cathedral complex and the surrounding Tuscan scenery from the top.

Top Ten tips for travelling with children

Top Ten tips for travelling with children

Our Top Ten tips for travelling with children

By Flagstone Travel

Travelling with children can be hectic and stressful, however, it doesn’t have to be. Recently on a flight to Johannesburg, I experienced an extraordinary lady who was attempting the 11-hour flight on her own with three little ones as her husband was meeting them there. She was calm, organised and full of tricks. So here are some of her tricks with a few added tips from me.

Top 10 tips for travelling with

1:
When booking your flights, or deciding which airline you want to fly with, check the flight regulations. By this I mean in terms of luggage, are you allowed to take extra bags, how far through can the pushchair go, can you pre-book seats together and is there an additional cost? What age group do your children fit into and will they be given a seat on the plane or are you going to have them on your lap?

2:
Be prepared, this is so important, so my advice is to bring snacks and as many as you can fit, as well as something more substantial. This will of course depend on the duration of your flight, but keeping their tummies full will help you keep them quiet, sit still and also sleep.

3:
Don’t forget wet wipes, whether your child is two or five they can still make a mess and you will be grateful for less sticky fingers.

4:
Bring distractions for your children with you whether it is a book/iPad/toys, pack some things to entertain your child, ideally, ones they can do sitting down in their seat and ones that do not make too much noise.

5:
If you are worried, explain to the passengers sitting near you that for example it is your first flight with your little one. This will help them to be more sympathetic if your child (and it will happen to us all) is the one screaming on a night flight because they can’t get comfortable or you can’t get them to sleep. Along this line another great ‘job’ if you have a three to five-year-old or similar is to get your child to offer a sweetie to the people sitting near you early on in the flight, it will earn some brownie points for later.

Part time working mummy post

6:
Pack a change of clothes for them and for you as well, just incase. You never know where a spillage can come from and you do not want to be caught off guard.

7:
If you are travelling on your own with one or more children, think of the type of bag you are taking, for example one that will fit under a pram, or a rucksack that you can wear that will leave your arms free, toddlers/children can wear one as well, fill it with their toys or games.

8:
Bring a child’s surprise plane bag, the first time I saw this was on the flight to Johannesburg, and it is an excellent idea. Firstly it works from a three-year-old to a ten-year-old. They will carry the bag, which is great to fill with their snacks or spare change of clothes. It is an exciting way for your children to start the holiday. It can be a small party bag with inexpensive goodies/presents, for example, a colouring book and crayons, that will keep them entertained throughout the flight.

9:
Arrive in plenty of time, pre-book your seats, if you can’t find what you want checking in online arrive early and ask for seats together.

10:
Pre-order anything you need for example food, milk or any medicine you might need whilst away, you can call ahead to the Boots in the departures area and pre-order this. On this not, it is also a good idea to take a little medical bag with some Calpol and necessities so that you are prepared.

After receiving some really helpful feedback from our clients who have tried and tested some of our tips, we have been given an extra couple of bonus tips which we would love to share with you…

Firstly: take a small puzzle, it is quiet and compact, not messy and can be reused numerous times especially if on a long-haul flight.

Secondly: if space is an issue when packing, take one pen or pencil and a little packet of post it notes, these can be drawn on, used double sided and also stuck around the seats in front and will create another game, whether they draw numbers and count, draw pictures or learn new words, it will fill hours of your flight time.

Hopefully, these extra bits will come in handy for your next flight with your little ones.

If like us you are wondering where to head for your next holiday and what properties would take the stress out of travelling with young children, we have the perfect tips for you to plan ahead. Now is the time to book for May half term and the summer whilst the early booking discounts are available.

Having young children ourselves, we appreciate that it is really important to have a break as well as spend time with your children. We have a few firm favorites that are tried and tested. Luxury hotels that are designed for children. Hotels with babysitting, good food but also family friendly restaurants where if your toddler throws something on the floor, the staff bring a toy, and sweep it up like nothing happened as it happens 100 times a day.

Our first recommendation is for families with young children under 4 years old. For this it’s important to pick a family specific hotel that caters for young children. There are the big brands such as Ikos and Sani Beach which offer excellent facilities and childcare, though this level of luxury can come at a cost.

One hotel that ticks all the boxes again and again is the Domes of Elounda, Crete.

Domes of Elounda

Picture: Domes of Elounda

Offering up to 25% off for 2025 and some discounts still for September and October 2024. A beautiful boutique yet spacious all suite hotel. This is perfect for families with
infants and younger children. There is childcare from 4 months in a registered creche and they offer three hour sessions twice daily as well as private babysitting (at additional cost). Kids club from four years is complimentary. The reason we love this hotel is the staff! It is a beautiful 5* hotel but with family friendly luxury, nothing is too much trouble and they love the children. There is a great beach, children’s pool and outdoor play ground too. One of our favorite aspects is that all the suites have private hot tubs or pools and two rooms, so there is no need to worry about waking each other up or sitting in the dark from 7pm. They provide everything from baby bouncers, cots, changing mats, baths, bed guards.
Tip: There is a beautiful village called Plaka a 10 minute walk away which is great for a local lunch, shopping and supermarket as well as having a large playground.

Domes of Elounda

Get in touch with us here if this is the sort of holiday you are looking for: www.flagstonetravel.com/enquire or call us on 02080502681. Family holidays here start from £2,250 for a family of four for 7 nights on half board, no travel in May 2025. Quote BROOD

Ideal for children that are 4-8 years old the Grecotel Costa Botanica in Corfu is perfect. Just over 3 hours by plane from London it is offering a children go free on certain dates for 2025 and there are some fab upgrades and discounts for early booking.
The main aspect about this hotel that we love is their shoreline, it is a beautiful long sandy beach and you won’t have to fight anyone for a lounger. The hotel has access to its Aqua Park which is amazing for slightly older children and there is an excellent kids club from 4 years old, complimentary. Unlike most all-inclusive you can dine around and try the local delicacies and 5 a la carte restaurants.

Grecotel Costa Botanica

Picture: Grecotel Costa Botanica

The hotel has its very own Greoland where kids can do arts, crafts, water activities, team games, move and theatre events as well as playing with lots of toys in an air conditioned area whilst parents visit the spa. The hotel is not just about the kids clubs, the facilities and children’s pool is fantastic for families to relax and enjoy time together. Tip: Pre book the a la carte restaurants and childcare here to make sure you get the most relaxation and get to try everything the hotel has to offer. Family holidays here start from £2,999 for a family of four for 7 nights on an all-inclusive basis, no travel in September 2024.

Grecotel Costa Botanica

Picture: Grecotel Costa Botanica

Tip: When your children get a little older is to go all-inclusive, it saves on the snacks, ice-creams, drinks and more snacks!
Finally, one for the older families with children and teenagers from 8-16 years old our recommendation would be the Club Med Palmiye Hotel in Turkey. It is one of the rare finds where a hotel with buffet and a la carte restaurant has a buffet that you will not get bored of eating in every day for the week. The food at Club Med is excellent and offers everything from a baby corner with freshly made purees to a pasta and pizza station and ice cream bar.

There are fantastic interconnecting rooms and the hotel is well built and spread out so it never seems too busy. Primarily we love this property because everything is included from tennis to volleyball and waterskiing. If you have active kids and want to join them it’s perfect. Saying this there is also a fantastic kids club with itinerary, so if they only want to join the bug hunt or sandcastle building competition you can pick and choose.
Club Med as a brand has really changed over the last 5 years with many hotels being newly renovated and ideal for families catering for their needs. There is still the evening entertainment, that can be avoided or join in but they have upped their game. Family holidays here start from £6,470 for a family of four for 7 nights on all-inclusive with London flights and transfers for October half term 2024.

Legoland, Billund, Denmark

Well, when the three co-founders of BROOD and six of the mini BROOD’s set off on an adventure to Legoland Denmark there was bound to be plenty of ‘brood moments’ along the way and that there was!

BROOD crew in LEGOLAND

Legoland Billund – flight

It was an extremely short flight from Manchester to Denmark – which is always welcome when travelling with little ones – in fact it was such a short flight that if you live in the north of England, it will actually take you less time to get to Legoland Denmark than it would to drive to the one in Windsor! When we arrived in Billund, it was only 15 minutes to get to the Legoland hotel from the airport, which again was perfect for the children especially as we arrived late at night. Despite it being so late when we checked in the kids couldn’t contain their excitement as to how amazing the Legoland Castle Hotel was, and neither could the adults if truth be told!

The hotel rooms themselves were set up perfectly for children and adults alike. Especially for a family of six, as it’s very rare that you can get a hotel room so fitting for your family. We had two bunk beds and a king-size bed in our room, both slightly segregated into their own little areas, which was perfect for the evenings. Once we had managed to bring the kids down off the ceiling of excitement, they each jumped into their beds with a promise of an exciting day ahead when they woke up.

Lego house and Lalandia

The next morning once we’d got the kids ready, they sat nicely and played with the Lego that was provided in the room, which meant we were able to get ready in peace – this is not something to be underestimated! Then we headed downstairs for the hotel breakfast, it was a buffet with plenty of choices. Scheduled for our first day was a trip to Lego house and Lalandia – which is home to Scandinavia’s largest water park. We decided to go to Lego House first, thinking it was probably best for them to go swimming towards the end of the day. The hotel reception staff had informed us that Lego House was approximately a 20 minute walk from the hotel, and just as the nine of us were about to set off the heavens opened! Even though we all had coats on, the rain was so heavy that we decided to buy some of the yellow Legoland ponchos for backup. In hindsight, instead of the ponchos we probably would have been better off getting a taxi there. The rain didn’t dampen the children’s spirits though and they couldn’t wait to dive into all of the various activities that greeted you as soon as you entered Lego House. There was an array of mind blowing Lego models from huge dinosaurs, and miniature villages, to a tree that was the centrepiece of the staircase that went up three floors! The children were thoroughly entertained throughout their time at Lego House and it was so refreshing to see them diving into Lego bricks to build things and not once asking for any kind of technology. As we prepared to leave Lego house to go to our next destination, we couldn’t believe it had started snowing! Only when team brood go somewhere at the end of April, could it snow! So we figured out how to get a taxi and went straight to our next destination Lalandia – which was only a two minute walk from our hotel, so it was very handy to go back there for changes of clothes, etc. As well as being home to Scandinavia’s biggest waterpark, Lalandia was also filled with restaurants, trampolines, soft play areas and shops, including a supermarket – which was very handy to get the children’s drinks and snacks from.

Arion Athens Hotel, Athens, Greece

The kids absolutely loved it in the waterpark and spent around two hours in there up and down slides, in and out of the pool, riding the waves. The youngest two couldn’t go in for that long, but there was a seating area with a viewing platform which had an enclosed play area so they were equally as happy as the older ones. It was a great afternoon and afterwards, we all enjoyed pizza from the takeaway pizzeria, which was really reasonably priced, and a few pizzas to share with drinks from the supermarket was perfect for us all.

After their tea settled, we let the kids go into the soft play area and ensured that they were worn out in time for bed. As we came out of Lalandia to go home the sun was shining and it was really warm – we’d enjoyed all four seasons in one day!

Legoland Denmark

We were up early again the next day as the children were super excited to go to Legoland Park, which was once again just two minutes from our hotel, with just one road to cross, that was a zebra crossing so it was nice and easy. There was so much to do at Legoland Park, we started by asking all the children what was the one thing that they most wanted to visit that day, and taking into account the two little ones Iris, 2 and Hartley, 4, would most love the new Peppa Pig land. We visited attractions like the Ninjago Land and a host of different rides that were all suitable for all different ages. Archer at only five-year-old proved to be the biggest daredevil of them all! We actually got to see an awful lot in one day and packed in lots of activities. Legoland Park doesn’t stay open too late either, which we only realised as it approached 5 o’clock that the park was starting to close rides – which helped us to get the children out of there and wind down for teatime. We knew we had the next day in the park to continue the fun which definitely helped take any stress off trying to cram everything in, so I would definitely recommend having two days in the park if you can. It’s definitely worth having a buggy for the little ones too, you can hire from Legoland, although I’d say whenever you travel anywhere having a little buggy at the airport for any child even under the age of five is super helpful. Our five year-old wanted to hop in it occasionally as you do end up doing an awful lot of steps in one day. I think we counted 16,000 steps one day, and 17,000 steps the next, so definitely get prepared in that sense.

The next day we visited the sea life centre inside Legoland Park, as we hadn’t got around to that the day before, which the kids loved and we also had the opportunity to revisit some of their favourite rides and places, which cemented that Ninjago Land and Peppa Pig World were right up there. Then of course came the gift shop, but as they had all been so well behaved we did promise them that they could pick something out of the gift shop on the last day. The choice was overwhelming for them, so I would allow plenty of time for them to keep changing their mind and decide on what they want, especially when you are sticking to a budget.

Is Legoland Billund worth it?

Absolutely! The children all enjoyed Legoland so much that they got quite teary when they were leaving and we had to make a promise that we would one day all go back together. And as adults, although it was tiring, it was so worth it. The children’s faces were lighting up each and every day with all the different things that were going on and we would all highly recommend Legoland Billund. We will definitely be returning and it would probably be nice to add on a few extra days to explore some of Billund as well. The Danish people and teams at Legoland were particularly helpful, and it felt very clean and safe. So if you’re looking for a fun mini break with the children, then I would put Legoland straight to the top of your list!

GET CLOSER TO DINOSAURS THAN EVER BEFORE AT JURASSIC WORLD: THE EXHIBITION!

GET CLOSER TO DINOSAURS THAN EVER BEFORE AT JURASSIC WORLD: THE EXHIBITION!

JURASSIC WORLD: THE EXHIBITION

We were lucky enough to be invited down for a special preview of Jurassic World:The Exhibition at the Trafford Centre which following its worldwide success came roaring into Manchester this week, and it did not disappoint!

We were honestly blown away throughout our journey round Jurassic World and it truly was an incredible experience for the whole family.

Jurassic World: The Exhibition is a family-friendly exhibit of massive proportions based on one of the biggest blockbuster franchises in cinema history. Visitors walk through the iconic Jurassic World gates, explore richly themed environments, encounter a life-sized Brachiosaurus, Velociraptors, including fan-favourite Blue, and the most fearsome dinosaur of all, the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex.

Guests are able to imagine what it would have been like to roam amongst these breathtaking creatures, interact with baby dinosaurs, including “Bumpy” which the children immediately recognised from the popular animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous which is currently streaming on Netflix.

T Rex Jurassic World The Exhibition

Following an initial launch in Melbourne, Australia,Jurassic World: The Exhibition, one of the fastest selling exhibitions in history since its launch, has become a global success with over eight million visitors. The exhibition has opened its gates to excited fans in numerous cities around the world such as Sydney, Toronto, Houston, San Diego, Chicago, Paris, Shanghai, Cologne and Berlin.

At the launch we spoke to Milan Rokic Executive Vice President for Neon Global – who are the producers of Jurassic World, to hear a little more about Jurassic World: The exhibition and its journey so far.

“Manchester is our 22nd city on our global tour and currently, we also have Jurassic World in Melbourne, Australia, and in Mexico City. We had taken this exhibition to London in 2022 and we’re looking at a return season to London in the foreseeable future, but we also would like to expand to the rest of the UK as well.

It’s a family experience, so it’s from the ages of five through to 95 to enjoy – you know. We’ve had all sorts of people come along, because this movie franchise has been around for 30 years, so we’ve all had different connections with it. But ultimately dinosaurs is something that everyone likes to connect with. So I think that bringing children along and seeing the joy in their face is what it’s all about.

We own an animatronics company in Nashville, Tennessee, so we create the dinosaurs there. And it takes a lot of work to put these together, and then to make it theatrical, because you want it to be close to what the movie experience is as well.”

And it was exactly that. We were fully invested in the experience and it’s hard not to get swept up into believing the dinosaurs are real!

If you’re looking a for great family trip this Summer, then make sure Jurassic World; The Exhibition is on your list.

DISNEYLAND PARIS: EDITOR REVIEW

DISNEYLAND PARIS: EDITOR REVIEW

Disneyland Paris

If you’re looking for an extra special holiday to enjoy with the children, then it really is hard to beat a Disney holiday. We’ve been on two Disney holidays now and both were filled with lots happy tears. Our first trip was on a Disney Cruise back when we only had our oldest two children, so this year we did decided to give Disneyland Paris a go, to see how our little ones tolerated the flights and the rides.

Although most of the rides you can queue for, there are some of the attractions that require booking in advance such as the shows, and the Marvel Avengers Hero Training Centre – so be aware of this to avoid disappointment! It’s worth noting that if you’re pregnant or you have any children with a disability then you can access the special assistance which will mean you don’t have to queue for any where near as long, but once again you will have to book in advance and make sure you have all the correct documentation with you.

If you don’t want to eat fast food or snacks the whole time that you’re there, you’ll need to book the restaurants in advance

As much your days at Disneyland will be fun packed, they will also be tiring for everyone in the family, but especially the little ones, so a buggy is an absolute must. We hired one, but as you can’t take them out of the park it meant we ended up carrying our two little ones at the end of the day to get back to the hotel which wasn’t ideal, so if you can I would recommend taking your own if you can.

If you don’t have park passes for each day of your trip you can still take in some Disney magic by spending some time in Disney Village. You don’t need a park pass to wander around, it right by both parks and it’s filled with Disney themed restaurants, bars and shops, so save your money on your park day visits and let them know they can pick up their favourite toy on the Disney Village day. If you are staying in any of the Disney Hotels than you can get access to the Avengers centre, within the 5*Marvel Hotel, which is really fun and filled with fab photo opportunity’s that the kids will reveal in.
